About Rummy:
What is rummy?
Rummy is a skill-based card game played with two to four players. There are several
versions including Gin Rummy, Canasta, Kalooki and Mah Jong.
In standard rummy, each player is dealt 10 cards, and the remaining cards in the deck
are place faced down on the table.
The aim of the game is to get rid of all your cards, by making 'melds', or groups of
cards based on suit or number. A run contains 3 or more cards in numerical sequence (eg. 8,9,10);
and a set contains 3 or more cards of the same rank (eg. 3 Kings).
To begin, the first player takes a card from either the top of the deck, or from the
upward-facing pile of discarded cards. The player then tries to make melds or to add
cards to his already formed melds.
At the end of the turn, he or she must return a card to the discard pile.
The winner is the one who melds all his or her cards first.
In a tournament, the winner is the player with the most points.
Kalooki: In kalooki, players can use jokers or wild cards to make melds. You cannot lay
your melds until you reach a certain number count with your cards.
Canasta: Canasta has a special 7 card meld, called ‘canasta’ which gives the player a special bonus.
How do I play online rummy?
The game of rummy is perfectly suited to playing online. The cards are automatically dealt,
and then players decide which cards to select or reject in order to make the best melds.
The only real difference is that you are playing against virtual opponents. However,
with the addition of the chat feature, you can talk to the other players to your heart's
content during the game.
